Mayweather's Mayhem

Every time I see Floyd Mayweather on television, I always wonder which version I'm looking at. Will it be:

A) The obnoxious and arrogant Mayweather who claims to be greater than Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali based on how much money they made in comparison to him?

B) The millionaire who brags about how many bedrooms and bathrooms his mansion has?

C) The at-home family man who can't stop talking about how much he loves his children despite the fact that none of them live with him in that house with so many bedrooms?

D) A fighter who is sometimes brought to tears during the post fight press conference because he feels no one appreciates him?

E) All of the above

F) None of the above

I'm not even going to begin to try to psycho analyze him because if there's one thing I took away from my high school psychology class is that we do everything because we want to marry our mothers or something like that.

Like everyone else, I took a look at the Mayweather Ustream rant and found myself sighing. Defenders of Floyd will say that he's trying to hype up a future fight with Manny Pacquiao, but I see this as him trying to steal Pacquiao's thunder since he's trying to hype a fight that's actually happening.

And like everyone else, I was pretty shocked about the incident between him and Josie Harris and his children last week. I've read the police reports and was even more shocked that he had threatened his children and had one of his bodyguards chase after them. All this over who Harris was rumoured to be dating. I'd say Floyd doesn't strike me as the jealous type but...yeah, that's a lie.

Naturally the forums were lit alight with the news. Would Floyd be arrested; will he settle out of court; could this affect his next fight? If Mayweather ends up going to court over that nasty incident with the mother of his children that occurred last week, it looks like we won't see any fights out of Floyd for a while. Just when it looked like things couldn't get any worse, three more federal charges have been laid against him. Maybe he and Roger can be cellmates...

Do I think he'll go to jail? Well, probably for a few days like most celebrities do these days. That or he can just pay off the mother of his children. If he does go to jail it'll cause a lot of problems for his bank account, his marketability (Though prison didn't hurt Tyson's appeal) and his legacy.

Let's face it, with all this talk (trash or otherwise) about a fight with Manny Pacquiao, it almost feels like it has to happen for Floyd. It doesn't need to happen for Pacquiao because he has continually challenged himself. And while I applaud Mayweather for accepting and winning the fight with Mosley, the one word I could say was "Finally". Need I remind you of rumours of him fighting Matthew Hatton? Yeah, and we all thought Ricky was the one on drugs.

If Mayweather challenged himself more by fighting top fighters like Pacquiao or Paul Williams, then I might be concerned about what happens to him but at this point, I don't care. It's not like he was eager to fight either of them in the first place. After all, he did say that he was taking a vacation from boxing...although if it goes to a judge and jury, he might be getting a vacation from life too.
