SchweitzerBlogRandom Thoughts on reality TV

FightCamp360With new episodes of HBO's 24/7 series and Showtime's Fight Camp 360 airing just a few days apart, I was tempted to do a commentary on both but opted for the more interesting and less formulatic Fight Camp 360. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, shame on you; go on YouTube.

  • Don't all these articles about the "Super Six" being in trouble remind you of a blog I did several weeks ago?
  • Nobody in Dirrell's camp seems too worried that the fight is seven weeks away and nothing has been agreed upon yet.
  • What did Leon Lawson mean when he said that it wasn't a guarantee that they will fight Ward next? I'm sorry, but when did he become an executive at Showtime?
  • I'm really hoping someone will come forward and let us know what the hell went on in the negotiations for Ward/Dirrell.
  • OK, not that I'm saying he's faking but why in the hell would Mikkel Kessler decide to drive his car just a few minutes after announcing that he's pulling out of the tournament because of double-vision?
  • I'm with Joe Goosen. I would not want to be in that car.
  • If you can't respect Glen Johnson then don't talk to me. In an era where even one loss can have the critics calling for your retirement, Johnson has kept moving foward despite his number of losses being in the double digits.
  • Why Helsinki for Froch/Abraham? Seriously, not that I'm playing favourites, but we know that the people in Quebec love a good fight
  • I noticed that they stopped using subtitles when Arthur Abraham speaks english.
  • Allan Green is looking really sharp with his new trainer.
  • The bickering between Sauerland (Abraham's promoter) and Froch is pretty funny considering they used to boast about how well they got along.
  • As much as I think Froch talks too much, it was nice to see him showing concern for Dirrell.
  • Arthur Abraham still believes that Dirrell was faking his injury when he got fouled in their match?
  • Who would thought that my respect for Froch and Abraham would be shifting in different directions?
  • I want to give Andre Dirrell the benefit of the doubt but at the same time, why did he wait so long to announce that he might have had neurological problems?
  • Why did Dirrell's grandfather feel that a lawyer should be present for some of the questions?
  • The questions I would have asked (or "axed") Dirrell are:
    1) When did you first start having symptoms?
    2) Why did you wait so long to go to a doctor?
  • As usual Andre Ward is handling himself with class.
  • I'll be honest, I'm jealous of that personal training space that Ward has.
  • The next time I see Gary Shaw, I want to see that bird perched on his shoulder.
  • Wait, not even Gary Shaw, the promoter of Andre Dirrell, knew about his fighter's problems?
  • While there may be doubts about Dirrell's injury, I do hope to see him in the ring again because he looked fantastic against Abraham.
  • Funny that we see Lucian Bute in this episode and not Sakio Bika considering Bika is lined up to fight Ward and Bute is the man everyone knows should be in the tournament.

Currently he is pitching an idea to Showtime to create a Mystery Science Theatre 3000 version for Fight Camp 360. If you have no idea what MST3K is, shame on you, go see Comedy Central.
