Boxing News & bits for January 5, 2018

  • Looks like the WBC is ordering light heavyweight champ Adonis Stevenson to fight Badou Jack.
  • Super middleweights Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui are scheduled for a rematch on March 3rd.   It will be on the undercard of Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz.

Full steam ahead (is that the phrase?) for Dana White as he is determined to do something in boxing.  “When we did the Mayweather fight, I just watched and took it all in. I just think that all these guys… the guys who are promoting boxing today are bad at it – I don’t think they do a good job, but I can do better. I know it sounds arrogant, but it’s the truth. I think I can do a better job than these guys do. I think we can do it a lot better, a lot better,” White told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.  Whatever, as long as some more fights can be made, get aired, and get eyes on the sport, then I’m all for it.
