I sparred with a guy last weekend who is 5'8" with 68" reach. I am 5'10" with a 76 1/2" reach. We are both 200 lbs. I was able to control the ring the entire time. What advice can I give him to help him overcome the reach advantage that I have???

I do believe if you have the reach on him, his best bet would be to work on his head movement and his footwork so he can get some inside angles on ya

Thanks Lucky 13 I will suggest that to him he could use some head movement. He had hit me with a few hook shots in recent sparring sessions. He was using a southpaw stance at the time! When he does that I switch my stance to match and pop him a few jabs

Sounds like you both are really advancing by having each other as sparring partners

Keep us posted on the various details of it? We'd love to hear about it

Hi there.

not sure how old this thread is, but that shorter guy is me! i have had to learn to move the head a lot, and if you check about 50 secs into this you can see tyson doing just that. pretty good inspiration!
