When you're not sparring, what would you recommend as a good work out? I make a habit of waking up as early as possible and running a few miles, but I really have lose to know knowledge on this sport. The best way I work on my balance trying to shuffle back and fourth on a set of train rails. Does anyone have any recommendations on diet, specific workouts or drills, I really have access to nothing. I'm stuck shadow boxing until I can make my own punching bag, I can't go to any gyms. I'm starting at an early age to get into it later on. What should I do?

I am not a nutritionist, therefore I can not recommend a diet. As for training, the basic exercises work best, they give you true power: push-ups, squats, calf-raises, chin-ups, pull-ups, etc.. After shadowboxing for 3 or more rounds, grab some 1 pound weights and shadowbox some more. Also, if you have a long rope, tie one end somewhere and the other end to something so that it is about shoulder height, then work on your weaving/slipping skils.

And.. run, run, run! Distance one day, hit the track some other day to work on sprints like the 200 meters and 400 meters.

Have you gotten into burpees at all?

They are beautiful, painfully beautiful

Here's a link if ya need one: www.bodybuilding.com/fun/rossboxing2.htm

No equipment required, some of the best conditioning/strength training there possibly is I think.

What have you been doing since your post?

We love hearing about progress and there will be much more activity on the boards now

I, Justin Salvato, will not be responsible if you, your training partner or anyone else around you get hurt doing any of the exercises, activities, and/or drills displayed on this website. And if you choose to participate in a sparring session, please do so in a gym under the supervision of a professional trainer.
