Hey all

Im new to this forum. and it doesn't seem to activate i have read all the topic's. I have been on many forums (for different activities & sports) for most of my life and what builds forums are people sharing there passion.

Im 30 years old, have been passionate about boxing most of my life but have never been able to commit to it due to work, family and financial constraints. Rencently the finance gods have shone on my and i have been able to quite 2 of my 3 jobs and now actually have some spare time on my hands.

I have recently moved out to the desert. and have built my own home gym and lucky i have found a old pro coach to help me. he is about 70 and i get to come over a few times a month. We practice mainly form & technique, fitness and additional training is all my own baby.

Don't know how many people will read this. Would love to hear from other passionate boxers & find out how they are training.

Regards

Hi there,

Good to see some new posts on this site. I know Justin has been wanting to get this forum more active, but just like anything else it's a process....

I found this site a few years ago and find it, and Justin himself, very helpful.

I've been interested in boxing for years but have only barely begun to scratch the surface of it really. Finances and mostly my son who is now five have kept me from being able to pursue it.

Right now I am focused on getting my strength and stamina back since I've been out of regularly exercising for too long now.

At the moment, I'm using P90X DVDs (I really like how they integrate the boxing moves, kenpo, & etc) and doing all the cardio I can. P90X is a viscous routine, especially since I've been out of for so long. As soon as I'm able I am going to join the LA Boxing gym and really get going on it.

Any advice for beginner's pursuing boxing?

Nice to "meet" ya!

Hey Lucky 13

tx for the reply, I spent most of the day working im my garage prepping the "Gym" Had to reinforce the structure my punch bag is on. Money is also very tight myself. but atleast im not working 3 jobs anymore. I have been lucky to pick up most of the stuff 2nd had and have made a lot of "Equipment" myself. i know when i apply myself the sky is really the limit.

Would be nice to find out how the guys are actually training.

Boxing : Tuesday & Thursday's i run 5km (street or treadmill, depending on weather) punch the bag for 60 minutes ( 3 minute rounds) then 20 minutes on the speed bag and another 20 on the Double end bag.

Cardio/Weights: Monday,Wednesday,Friday my weight routine then a 7-9km.

Im training to do 10km in 60 minutes, been at it for a few months, the most i can do at the moment is 9km.

Wish i had a partner to do punch mitts with

A site that has really helped me out is www.rosstraining.com - www.rossboxing.com.

Title Boxing has some nice video's and Bas Rutten has a Nice DVD Combo, You get Instruction Mp3's with some of them
