Hello Guys,

I'm 24 y/o, and I am interested in working out with boxing as a tool to get fit and toned. I have good muscle I am just not toned. I have a heavybag gloves and wraps, and I have read about boxing workouts in a book called Boxing Fitness written by Ian Oliver. I was wonndering if anyone has any tips or such for me.

I do have a question, I want to workout in the morning within about 1 hour of waking up. So, with that being said what would you say is a good breakfast.

Also, are there any other books for reference that you would suggest?

One more thing, I am also interested in working my lower body with boxing, and as of now all I have been doing is kicking the heavy bag; any tips on working my lower body with boxing?

Hiya

For books on boxing, I found a top 25 list on Amazon for ya:

www.amazon.com/25-Must-Have-Boxing-Books/lm/3PEB0C5J64259

Most of the reading I do about it is via net, especially here of course

As far as yer breakfast question, I think the best thing is to listen to yer body on that one.

Personally, I'm the type that can't eat right away in the morning anyway so if I'm hittin my workout right away, I just eat after. Or sometimes I might grab a piece of cheese or somethin that will keep me from being hungry but not slow me down from being too full. Everyone is different though, try it different ways and you'll know when you find what works for you.

There are various ways to workout your lower body of course, again everyone is going to have a preferred method. My fave is the rope, I like high intensity/high energy stuff but I guess it depends on what your specific goals are as well.

Have you looked into boxing gyms in your area? LA Boxing has a workout I highly recommend getting into if you can afford it. If your like me and on a budget there are usually community center's with boxing gyms that are much more affordable. Also at community center's you can generally find people with helpful advice on your technique, the equipment there, & etc.

What have you been doing since your last post? Finding various things that work and that don't?

We'd love to hear about it over here

Thanks for the reply, but I live in a small town so I have not found a boxing gym. Since my last post I did get a couple of books via Amazon, read through them, got some good ideas and workouts.

Well I'm glad to hear your keeping at it even without a boxing gym available right now, I've been in that position as well

We'd love to hear about what your trying and what works and doesn't work for you, or anything else ya wanna talk boxing about.

There should be lots more activity on the board from now on, look forward to hearing from you in the future
