Below we have selected some markets that give you an opportunity to get a good return on your investment, while still profiting from a likely Canelo victory.

Our friends at have created this cool infographic to show how each fighters stats match up.

Fight Winner

On paper this looks a one-sided contest and the bookies have priced it up accordingly. Betway go 1/20 about Canelo, meaning a bet of £100 would give you a profit of just £5. Fielding is priced at 8/1 and this is a fair reflection of his chance of becoming only the second man to beat Canelo.

Saul Alvarez 1/20
Rocky Fielding 8/1
Draw 33/1

Grouped round betting

Another market involving which round the fight will be won in, is the grouped round betting. This market gives you the opportunity to hedge your bets and collect your winnings if you can predict which quarter of the fight that the bought will be won in. Your bet will come in if the fighter you have backed wins in any of the three rounds you have placed your bet on.

For Canelo fans this gives you the chance to place a bet on the heavy favourite while still getting odds where you can get a nice return from a small outlay. Canelo is favourite to win in rounds 4 to 6 at 5/2 with Betway. The same company offer 7/2 about rounds 1 to 3 and 7 to 9.

Rocky Fielding is again the outsider in all of these markets

Fielding in rounds 1 to 3 33/1
Fielding in rounds 4 to 6 28/1
Fielding in rounds 7 to 9 33/1
Fielding in rounds 10 to 12 50/1
Fielding on points 28/1
Draw 33/1
Alvarez in rounds 1 to 3 7/2
Alvarez in rounds 4 to 6 5/2
Alvarez in rounds 7 to 9 7/2
Alvarez in rounds 10 to 12 8/1
Alvarez on points 7/2

Specials Market

There are plenty of specials markets around for this fight to try and attract punters to bet as Canelo is such a short price at 1/20. It will be to all punters benefits to watch out for over priced specials in the week leading up to the bought. These bets are especially difficult for bookies to price up compared to the traditional markets and at least one odds compiler is bound to offer the wrong price as they go after punters business.

One that catches our eye already is this special from Paddy Power.

Alvarez in rounds 1-6 6/5

Rocky Fielding

“If I win, I’ll be the king of New York and one of the biggest names in the sport overnight. I came from nothing and now I’m headlining at MSG. It’s a dream come true, but it’s a job, and the work will be done in the gym in Manchester. There’s a lot of talk about Canelo’s next fight after Dec. 15-that it could be with Danny Jacobs, Demetrius Andrade, the Charlos, or even Callum Smith at Anfield – let them talk. If I take Canelo out, I’ll have a massive fight at Anfield instead.”

Canelo Alvarez

“My recovery has been great. The cut is recovering. We haven’t started sparring yet, but we will start soon. We will do more than 50 rounds of sparring like in every camp. This is a new challenge, to be moving up in weight. We’ll see how the weight affects me. He’ll be bigger and maybe even stronger than me. This is a risk that I am taking. I’m entering the comfort zone of the champion, but I’ll take this challenge on because that’s what I need to do to make history in my career. I want to be one of the top ten Mexican fighters to become a three-division world champion.”

In what looks set to be a very one sided affair, it is hard to oppose Canelo. He lacks the height or reach against Fielding but his class and counter punch should see him step up a weight division with relative ease. This is reflected in the betting however and you’re going to have to get creative to get a good return on your bet.

We like the Alvarez victory in rounds 1-6 at 6/5 with Paddy Power. He’ll be eager to put in a good display and get this one over with early and Fielding is going to struggle against a fighter of this class.
