So about what the doctor said…

TrainingIconBack in June, I explained that I have been feeling pain in my hip whenever I do something strenuous like abdominal exercises.  My doctor said it’s hip impingement and it’s only going to get worse.  Gotta love getting older.  Today, I went to see the doctor again, another orthopedic specialist for the pain in my shoulder that I have been experiencing since the sparring session I had in early August.

I have something called bursitis of the shoulder.  To make a long story short, I strained my shoulder something fierce during that session.  Most likely from throwing wild over hand rights.  Hey, it was my first sparring session in 5 or 6 years.  Give me a break.

The good news is that the doctor didn’t say I have to stop boxing.  He made it clear what types of exercises to avoid and what would aggravate my shoulder.   So with some caveats, this past-his-prime guy could continue boxing.

The bad news is that due to a storm that hit my area a week and a half ago that caused some damage to my home and property (and a recent dentist visit), financially, boxing training is not feasible at the moment.
