Billy Joe Saunders versus Willie Monroe Jr. was not an exciting fight. It started out with both fighters being tentative; feeling each other out. Saunders eventually started imposing his will on Monroe even after getting a cut on his nose from a headbutt. Monroe had his moments, but he simply was not busy enough. He had extremely fast jabs, but never really followed through with straight left hands. I don’t even recall a single upper-cut from Monroe.
Saunders would unload every time Monroe would lay on the ropes. Nothing big landed while in that position, but the big punches landed were in the middle of the ring.
